Miami Beach Botanical Garden

Miami Beach’s Newly Renovated Botanical Paradise Re-Opens

After a summer of renovation and construction, the Miami Beach Garden Conservancy and Miami Beach officials celebrate the newly renovated Miami Beach Botanical Garden by hosting a commemoration ceremony on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
The re-opening of the garden will be celebrated with a tree-planting ceremony. The Office of Capital Improvement Projects, in partnership with the Miami Beach Garden Conservancy, oversaw the $1.3 million renovation. The new space was designed by Raymond Jungles, Inc. and was completed on schedule and within budget. The re-design transforms much of the landscaped space into a more verdant garden oasis.
The project included demolishing the existing concrete features; removing the existing fencing and replacing it with oolite monolithic walls; relocating the entrance of the garden; constructing water features and ponds; constructing hardscape paths, plazas and patios; relocating landscaping and plantings; and installing new lighting and irrigation.
“The re-design and renovation of the botanical garden will only enhance the enchantment that this urban oasis has provided our residents and visitors for over 45 years,” said City Manager Jorge Gonzalez. “The partnership with the Miami Beach Garden Conservancy has been instrumental in keeping the value of the garden present within the heart of the city.”
Miami Beach Botanical Garden, located at 2000 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach is owned by the City of Miami Beach and operated by the Miami Beach Garden Conservancy.
Educational events, social events and major art installations will resume at the garden. For more information on programming at the garden, visit www.mbgarden.org.
